Danielle Lloyd wades into Vardy WAG row to claim of ‘similar run-ins’

Danielle Lloyd has waded into the explosive row between WAGs Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy which has sparked headlines across the globe.

Yesterday, Coleen Rooney accused Vardy of passing stories about her to The Sun newspaper – something Vardy strenuously denies.

Now, model Lloyd has claimed to have also had “run-ins” with Vardy, who is said to be “devastated” about the situation.

The row between the two women, who are known in the tabloid press as WAGs (wives and girlfriends of footballers), sparked worldwide coverage – with headlines appearing in The New York Times and Germany’s Bild newspaper.

Model Danielle Lloyd waded into the argument shortly after Rooney’s post by adding a comment of three rat emojis and said “on a serious note though who does that it’s terrible”.

On Thursday morning, Lloyd appeared on TV show This Morning, saying she was not surprised by Rooney’s allegation.

“I wasn’t shocked, I’ve had run-ins with Becky before over similar things.

“I wasn’t shocked when I saw who it allegedly was, I think she did it, I think it’s a shame because she never thought it’d get out, but it has.”

She then claimed she was confident Vardy’s account was involved.

Vardy, who is pregnant and married to footballer Jamie Vardy, issued her second denial in as many days.

She said: “Danielle Lloyd making false claims on @thismorning that we have had ‘similar run-ins’ is utter b*******.”

She added: “On a more serious note I’ve been inundated with messages from everyone but I’m not saying anything more until we’ve finished looking into this situation properly.”

Within 30 minutes, Lloyd hit back, accusing Vardy of being “recruited” by The Sun and branding her a “#secretwag”.

This appears to be a reference to an anonymous Sun gossip column supposedly written by a WAG.

Lloyd said: “We are all entitled to our opinions and we all know it came from your account… attacking me won’t take that away another low blow by you.”

She then shared critical tweets of Vardy and added: “She is big enough and ok enough to pipe up to me though while pregnant.”

Vardy has been sharing abusive messages she has been sent since Rooney, who is married to footballer Wayne Rooney, made the first allegation against her.

Rooney caused a stir when she posted on her Twitter and Instagram that private Instagram stories, which are posts that disappear after 24 hours on the social media app, had been leaked to the tabloid newspaper.

She claims she had set the privacy settings to ensure that the posts were only visible to one account, which belongs to Vardy.

She claims the posts which she set to be only viewable by the account were fake, including that she had been considering gender selection in order to have a baby girl. These stories have been written about by some newspapers.

Shortly after Rooney’s public accusation, Vardy responded on Instagram denying any involvement.

Vardy wrote: “As I have just said to you on the phone, I wish you had called me if you thought this.”

As part of her denial, she said “various people” have access to her Instagram account.

Vardy added: “I’m not being funny but I don’t need the money, what would I gain from selling stories on you? I liked you a lot Coleen and I’m so upset that you have chosen to do this, especially when I’m heavily pregnant.”

Vardy’s husband, Leicester and England striker Jamie, expressed solidarity with his wife by liking her tweet defending herself. A like on Twitter is when a user clicks on a heart symbol below the message.

Rooney’s husband, former England captain Wayne, has not yet used his social media accounts to defend his wife.

Fellow WAG Nicola McLean has spoken out in support of Vardy, telling The Jeremy Vine show: “I don’t know Coleen but I do know Rebekah and what she’s going through is what nobody should have to go through so publicly.”
